f your Real Estate Salesperson or Broker License has been expired for less than two years then you just need to complete 22.5 hours of continuing education including 3 hours of Fair housing and 1 hour of Law of Agency and renew your license with a sponsoring Broker.
July 1st, 2008, NYS Real Estate License Law changed. The Salesperson Licensing course increased from 45 hours to 75 hours, which means 30 hours of additional topics have been added to the original 45 hours.
If your license has been expired for more than two years and you can prove that you were originally licensed, regardless of which course you took, all you need is to re-take the State exam. Keep in mind the new State exam is based on the new 75-hour curriculum.
If your license has been expired for more than two years and cannot provide proof that you were licensed, but can provide proof of taking the 75-hour course you will need to retake the state exam.
If your license has been expired for more than two years and cannot provide proof you were licensed but can provide proof of taking the original 45-hour Salesperson Licensing course. NYSDOS will require you to take a 30-hour Remedial course, pass a written proctored exam, and then re-take the State exam.
